The house was built in 1875, some years after the opening of the Glasgow to Callander railway line, for the family of a Glasgow doctor, and was originally intended as the family’s summer residence. The house maintains many of the original fine Victorian features such as elaborate plasterwork, high ceilings, and sash and case windows, and is distinguished by its fine central turret.
“ Very friendly and excellent service. Especially liked the breakfast pancakes!”
“ Lovely room, very friendly hosts. Beautiful area, we’d like to stay longer.”
“ Loved the food, the pictures and the books all around the house.”
“ Hotel full of charm and character, and breakfast superb. Anne & Ron such friendly people (and Angus and Sammi!)”
The Coppice has central heating throughout, making it comfortable even in the depths of the Scottish winter. In addition to five ensuite bedrooms we have a large lounge bar for the exclusive use of our guests. Walkers, cyclists and bikers are all welcome; we have hosedown facilities for machines, and drying facilities for wet clothing.
Our lounge bar stocks a wide selection of malt whiskies and beers, as well as premium spirits, and a selection of draught beer, including Guinness, on tap during the summer season.
The breakfast room has recently been refurbished to a high standard, and has a wonderful outlook directly onto Callander Meadows and the beginning of Loch Lomond National Park.
The entrance vestibule, hall, stairs and upstairs landings have also recently been refurbished to bring them back to the grandeur of Victorian times. The house is full of our own pictures, books, magazines and maps for browsing and borrowing.
